Over 80 people attended the listening session hosted on Thursday, May 7, 2026.

Upon the listening session's start, a brief presentation was given to share history on the park and share a menu of options being considered for the draft plan. It was followed by small group feedback activities intended to give community members a setting in which to collaboratively brainstorm with their neighbors and ask questions to Pima County staff.

By presenting the menu of options for the park and explaining the planning process, we hoped to show our commitment to incorporating constructive community input as we refine the plan. With such a large turnout, we designed the small-group activity to ensure everyone had a chance to contribute, voice interests and concerns, listen to each other, and build on shared ideas. Your early feedback has helped inform Flood Control as the new management group for the park.

To address common questions about the draft plan elements so far, we’ve updated the project website. For example, it clarifies features that cannot be included, such as lighting, bathrooms, paved parking, paved roads, and protected embankments.

We share your goal of giving the community real opportunities to talk with one another and ensuring all voices are heard fairly. We appreciate the feedback provided by the community as it adds important context for our evolving and adaptive work.
