Lawrence closed intermittently @ 82

UPDATE The contractor stated that the Lawrence closure will occur more consistently within the hours of about 8-5:30pm, M-F, starting Tuesday, March 25. The project is expected to last at least through Friday, April 11.

The good news: the 2024 Mill & Overlay project is running a tiny bit ahead of schedule! They weren't supposed to be at this stage until at least the start of April.

The news that requires a little more patience: finding alternate routes to Walmart, Home Depot, Atwoods and other businesses off 82 & Lawrence is here, sooner than expected.

See the attached image, highlighting various routes to/from businesses that aren't impacted by the Lawrence St closure. The construction will continue for about a month or so, but things will be open intermitently during construction. Please plan to use alternate routes during construction.

Here are some suggestions:

To access Walmart:

• When traveling WESTBOUND 82, take the Grand Ave exit (before Lawrence St). Turn right on Grand and you will have access to TWO additional enterances to Walmart.
• When traveling EASTBOUND 82, take the Grand Ave exit (after Lawrence St). Turn left on Grand and you will have access to TWO additional enterances to Walmart.
• TAKEAWAY: The two access points off of Grand Ave will be your primary access points for Walmart.

To access Atwoods:

• When traveling on WESTBOUND 82, continue past Lawrence St and access Atwoods via one of the TWO enterences off of HWY 82.
• When traveling on EASTBOUND 82, take the Grand exit off (after Lawrence St). Turn left on Grand and access the frontage road (left turn) and enter the Atwoods parking lot via the TWO enterences off of HWY 82.
• TAKEAWAY: In lieu of the Atwoods enterences off of Lawrence street, please use the access points off of HWY 82.

To access the businesses in the Great Lakes shopping center (T Mobile, Little Caesars, etc):

• When traveling on WESTBOUND 82, take the Grand Ave exit (before Lawrence St). Cross over Grand on the frontage road and enter the shopping center, as needed.
• When traveling on EASTBOUND 82, take the Grand Ave exit (after Lawrence St). Turn left on Grand and access the frontage road (left turn) and enter the shopping center from the frontage road, as needed.
• TAKEAWAY: Most access is similar despite construction.

To access Home Depot and other businesses (e.g. First State Bank) west of Lawrence and south of HWY 82:

• When traveling on WESTBOUND 82, take the Grand Ave exit (before Lawrence St), turn left/south on Grand Ave, turn right/east onto E Cloud St. That will take you to the south end of Lawrence, but that intersection will be open for accessing the business.
• When traveling on EASTBOUND 82, use one of the enterences off of HWY 82 (before Lawrence St). You can also take the Grand Ave exit (after Lawrence St), turn right/south on Grand Ave, and go the back way via E Cloud St. This is also an option to exit the area while Lawrence St is closed.
• TAKEAWAY: You'll have to prioritize using Grand Ave + E Cloud St to access the shopping center.

To access Mi Casa Mexican Restaurant, Harbor Freight, etc:

• When traveling on WESTBOUND 82, take the Grand Ave exit (before Lawrence St), turn left/south on Grand Ave and use the access points off of Grand Ave.
• When traveling on EASTBOUND 82, take the Grand Ave exit (after Lawrence St), turn right/south on Grand Ave and use one of the access points off Grand Ave.
• TAKEAWAY: Prioritize the access points off Grand Ave to access these establishments.

To access 4U Credit Union:

• When traveling on WESTBOUND 82, take the Grand Ave exit (before Lawrence St), turn left/south on Grand Ave and use the access points off of Grand Ave, between Sherwin Williams and O'Reilly. It's typically a delivery route so things will get tricky if someone is receiving a shipment, so please add some additional travel time to your plans.
• When traveling on EASTBOUND 82, take the Grand Ave exit (after Lawrence St), turn right/south on Grand Ave and use one of the access points off Grand Ave, between Sherwin Williams and O'Reilly. It's typically a delivery route so things will get tricky if someone is receiving a shipment, so please add some additional travel time to your plans.
• TAKEAWAY: The access point for 4U Credit Union is off Grand Ave, between Sherwin Williams and O'Reilly. Please plan additional time for unexpected delays.
