The cost of modernizing the Dr. Duncan Murray Recreation Centre remains prohibitive. The 2026-2030 Strategic Plan includes recreation centre modernization as a key priority.

Responsibility for potable water, wastewater, and sewer treatment will be transferred from Mondi – the pulp mill owner - to the Town. That includes building a new Town-owned water treatment plant by 2046.

Every year, Council approves the Town of Hinton’s budget for the following year. In December 2024, Council approved a $34.5 million Operating Budget and $41.7 million Capital Planning Budget.
