Overdose Awareness and Prevention

The crisis of overdose and substance misuse continues to grow at alarming proportions in the region. As the numbers of overdoses continue to rise, the importance of preventive measures becomes increasingly critical. Centralizing resources and opportunities in a coordinated space is essential for effectively addressing this pressing public health issue. This document explores the importance of overdose prevention and the role of centralized resources in creating a safer and healthier community.
The overdose epidemic is not only an issue here, but it has also claimed thousands of lives across the nation. This crisis not only affects individuals but also devastates families, strains healthcare systems, and impacts the broader community. Over the past decade, overdose deaths have increased. Education, intervention, and access to treatment are small steps we can do to help lower the risk.
Raising awareness about the dangers of drug misuse and the signs of overdose is crucial. Public education campaigns, school-based programs, and community outreach can help inform individuals about the risks associated with substance use and the importance of seeking help. That is why the City of Lake Stevens has created this space and held two town halls with another one scheduled on May 22, 2025. Let's come together and help each other end this epidemic.
