Council Approves Resolution No. 26-R-006 Stating Intent to Rename Elm Street to Route 66

City Council approved a resolution stating its intent to rename Elm Street, including portions of Millcreek Road, to Route 66 as part of the Route 66 Centennial effort.

At the February 9 City Council meeting, Council approved Resolution No. 26-R-006, stating the City’s intent to rename Elm Street, including portions of Millcreek Road, to Route 66. This action supports Lebanon’s efforts to honor its historic connection to Route 66 ahead of the 2026 Centennial.

Approval of the resolution initiates the formal public comment period required under Missouri state law. Written comments or protests may be submitted during this period as outlined in the resolution.

Following the public comment period, the proposed name change is scheduled to return to City Council for final consideration on March 23. If approved, the City’s goal is to complete the name change by April 30, coinciding with the national kickoff of the Route 66 Centennial celebration.
