Lots purchased by the Town in 2022 for the development of Affordable Housing.

Affirmative Investments was selected to develop 12 and 12R Bartlett Road (in conjunction with 135 and 137 Orange Street and 16A-C Vesper Lane) after responding to the RFP put out by the Town. They are excited to create a much-needed, year-round workforce housing community, ensuring it is well-designed, well-built, well-managed, and in keeping with the historic character of Nantucket.

Affirmative and their subcontractors are now conducting preliminary due diligence to better understand site conditions, and beginning in the spring of 2026, you may see teams performing testing and surveying on the property. Affirmative values keeping an open line of communication with neighbors and interested stakeholders and welcomes any questions or comments you may have as the planning and permitting processes takes shape.

After completing initial due diligence and gaining a clearer understanding of what will be proposed for the sites, Affirmative will host in-person and virtual meetings with neighbors to ensure all voices are heard. March 2022
Affordable Housing Trust acquired the adjacent parcels at 12 and 12R Bartlett Road for $2.6 million to support future affordable housing development under existing zoning.

Comprehensive Affordable Housing Request for Proposal (RFP)

October 2024
The Finance Department issued a bundled RFP for affordable housing that included 135 & 137 Orange Street, 16 Vesper Lane, and 12 & 12R Bartlett Road to streamline development and expand workforce housing opportunities.

Awarded RFP to Affirmative Investments

August 2025
The AHT awarded the RFP to Affirmative Investments to develop the two parcels.
