The Town of Nantucket is actively working towards providing housing options that reflect the Island's economic diversity. Efforts are focused on making year-round housing more accessible for those working on the Island, while affordable housing initiatives aim to create stable living environments. The Town is also addressing the housing needs of the seasonal workforce, ensuring safe, secure accommodations.
Active Projects
Attainable Housing at 158 Madaket Road
The Town of Nantucket, through a collaborative partnership between the Nantucket Affordable Housing Trust and the Nantucket Land Bank, is undertaking a residential structure relocation and redevelopment project to expand the Town’s supply of income-restricted homeownership opportunities.
8 White Street
Bargain sale completed in December 2021, utilizing Community Preservation Committee's (CPC) funds.
Habitat for Humanity - Waitt Drive Development
Habitat for Humanity Nantucket is construction six homes for homeownership on 5, 7 and 9 Waitt Drive.
16A, 16B, and 16C Vesper Lane
The Town purchased 18 Vesper from UMass Boston in 2021.
7 Amelia
Purchased by the Town in 2019
12 and 12 R Bartlett Road
Lots purchased by the Town in 2022 for the development of Affordable Housing.
135/137 Orange Street
A proposed workforce rental housing development at 135–141 Orange Street could deliver up to 32 units, with affordability restrictions under current zoning and the Town’s Workforce Housing bylaw.
Ticcoma Green - 6 Fairgrounds Road & 4 Waitt Drive
Ticcoma Green is a Town-led affordable and workforce housing project at 6 Fairgrounds Road and 4 Waitt Drive that will create 64 year-round rental homes.
Ballot Question 3 - Debt Exclusion: Town Employee Housing Design, Owners Project Manager and Construction Costs
This project would provide stable, affordable housing options close to critical Town services, easing this burden and ensuring housing security.

Wiggles Way - Housing Nantucket
Builder Billy Cassidy partnered with developer Housing Nantucket, to permit and construct the 22-unit workforce housing development on the former Fred “Wiggles” Coffin family 2 acre-property.

Meadows I (Richmond Company)

The Town of Nantucket has developed a new Seasonal Workforce Housing project located at 19 Waitt Drive.
