Alleys 41 & 29D Closure - Update

Alleys 41 and 29D in the Savannah Green subdivision continue to be closed

Alleys 41 and 29D in the Savannah Green subdivision continue to be closed for reconstruction due to unforeseen required utility adjustments.

The Town and its contractors are working closely with multiple utility companies to coordinate the adjustments. Updated information about timeframes will be provided as soon as they are available. Once the utilities adjustments are made, the underdrain system and paving of the alley will take approximately two weeks.

Thank you for your continued patience during these delays related to unforeseen circumstances. The Town and its contractors understand the inconveniences this work creates, and all are working diligently to complete the work as quickly as possible.

What this means to you:

Garbage/Recycling Pickup:

Garbage and recycling carts will continue to be need to be placed at the back of curbs no later than 6 a.m. on Thursdays (the day of collection) or after 6 p.m. the evening before. Crews will focus on areas under construction in the subdivision first.

During the construction period when alleys are closed, residents do not need to move garbage and recycling carts behind their homes (as code normally requires). Residents are free to leave them in front of their homes during the resurfacing period.

• Residents on the south side of Bull Street between Montgomery Street and Oglethorpe Avenue need to place their carts at the back of curb on Bull Street.

• Residents on Oglethorpe backing up to Alley 29D need to place their carts at the back of curb on the west side of Oglethorpe Avenue.

Mail Delivery:

Mail will not be delivered to residences during the construction period. Residents will need to continue to have their mail held and pick up mail at the Normal United States Post Office, 200 W. North Street, Normal.

Parking:

• No parking on the south side of Bull Street between Montgomery Street and Oglethorpe Avenue or the north side of Perry Lane between Montgomery Street and Oglethorpe Avenue.
