Alleys with the first layer of asphalt placed will open Aug. 26 so residents can park in their garages
Alleys currently under construction with the first layer of asphalt placed will open Aug. 26 so residents can park vehicles in their garages.
Alleys slated to open include: 41, 29D, 40, 31B, 31C, & 31D.
A final layer of asphalt will be placed toward the end of the week of Aug. 26, or the beginning of the week starting Sept. 3. Each alley will temporarily close for about two hours during this time.
Garbage/Recycling Pickup:
Until the alleys receive the final layer of asphalt, garbage and recycling carts need to continue to be placed at the back of curbs no later than 6 a.m. on Thursdays (the day of collection) or after 6 p.m. the evening before. Crews will focus on areas under construction in the subdivision first.
During the construction period when alleys are closed, residents do not need to move garbage and recycling carts behind their homes (as code normally requires). Residents are free to leave them in front of their homes during the resurfacing period.
Once the final lift of asphalt is placed, garbage/recycling pickup will occur in the alleys.
Mail Delivery:
Mail will not be delivered to residences until the alleys have the final layer of asphalt placed and residents can continue to pick up their mail at the Normal United States Post Office, 200 W. North Street, Normal. Then the contractor will notify the post office to start delivering mail to mailboxes in the alleys.
Parking:
After the final layer of asphalt is placed in the alleys, normal subdivision parking will occur on adjacent streets.
