Alleys 40 & 32E to Close June 17

Beginning June 17, Alley 40 and 32E between Perry Lane and Drayton Street will be closed for reconstruction. Drivers are required to avoid the area and to use caution when traveling around the area.

Alley 40 runs east/west and alley 32E runs north/south; both alleys are between Perry Lane and Drayton Street.

The alley closure is tentatively expected to be reopened Monday, July, 15, weather permitting.

What this means to you:

Garbage/Recycling Pickup:

Garbage and recycling carts need to be placed at the back of curbs no later than 6 a.m. on Thursdays (the day of collection) or after 6 p.m. the evening before. Crews will focus on areas under construction in the subdivision first.

During the construction period when alleys are closed, residents do not need to move garbage and recycling carts behind their homes (as code normally requires). Residents are free to leave them in front of their homes during the resurfacing period.

• Residents on the south side of Perry Lane between Ogelthorpe Avenue and Henry Street need to place their carts at the back of curb on Perry Lane.
• Residents on the north side of Drayton Street between Ogelthorpe Avenue and Henry Street will need to place their cans/totes at the back of curb on Drayton Street.

Mail Delivery:

• Mail will not be delivered to residences during the construction period. An "Authorization to Hold Mail" postcard will be distributed to impacted residents at least 48 hours prior to the alley closure.
• Residents should follow the instructions on the postcard, indicating they wish to have their mail held for 30 days.
• After the postcard is returned (follow instructions on the post card) and it has been processed, residents can pick up their mail at the Normal United States Post Office, 200 W. North Street, Normal.

Parking:

• No parking on the south side of Perry Lane between Ogelthorpe Avenue and Henry Street or the north side of Drayton Street between Ogelthorpe Avenue and Henry Street.
• No parking on the west side of Oglethorpe. Move to the east side.
