Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)

The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program upholds our commitment to sustain and enhance the living conditions of our residents. This federal grant initiative, enacted in 1974 as part of the Housing and Community Development Act, is a vital asset allocated for improving the quality of life of our low- to moderate-income citizens. The program focuses on three core national objectives:

  • assisting low– and moderate-income households;
  • eliminating or preventing conditions of blight; or
  • responding to an urgent need.

Every five years, the Town engages residents and stakeholders to determine the current needs of the community. The results of this process are analyzed to help identify the greatest community needs and develop a five-year strategic plan called a Consolidated Plan.

In collaboration with the City of Bloomington and the McLean County Regional Planning Commission, the Town is currently seeking resident input for the next Consolidated Plan (2025-2029). An electronic survey is available in English, Spanish and French. The results of the survey will play a vital role is establishing the priorities for the next Consolidated Plan.
