Project Overview

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), in collaboration with the Village of North Palm Beach, is undertaking a critical infrastructure improvement project to better serve residents, businesses, and visitors. This initiative includes the replacement of the aging SR 5/US 1 bridge over the Earman River to ensure long-term structural safety and resiliency, while also addressing current and future traffic demands. Enhancements such as roadway widening, bicycle lanes, and improved turn lane configurations will bolster traffic flow, safety, and accessibility for all roadway users. The project's scope also includes pavement resurfacing, upgraded pedestrian curb ramps, and the addition of benches and planters, reinforcing the shared commitment to both functionality and quality of life in public spaces.

As part of this comprehensive effort, FDOT and the Village are prioritizing community input to guide final design decisions and ensure the project aligns with local needs and expectations. Upgrades to drainage, lighting, signage, Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) equipment, and other critical infrastructure will further advance the resiliency and efficiency of a crucial transportation corridor. These planned improvements are rooted in the goal of providing a safer, more sustainable, and visually appealing environment for all.
