Plano's Cultural Arts Plan

The Cultural Arts Plan was adopted by Plano City Council on Monday, May 12, 2025. This engagement page will be archived on June 13, 2025. The final plan can be found at plano.gov/arts.

A Cultural Arts plan is an important tool for evaluating the state of the arts, culture and creative activities in Plano. It helps us identify the community’s priorities, highlight opportunities, address inequities, and create a shared vision with clear goals and strategies. Once complete, this plan will be key to making sure Plano's unique cultural identity is recognized and supported by our community.

**What will this plan do? **
Plano’s new Cultural Arts plan will be designed to ensure arts and culture a core value of the city. By broadening participation and increasing accessibility to the arts, Plano can ensure that art is for everyone. It will also define the city's role and expectations regarding arts and culture.

The plan seeks to enhance coordination, communication, and connections among stakeholders, encourage philanthropy, and elevate Plano as an art destination. Additionally, the plan intends to attract creative sector start-ups, boost economic vitality, and communicate the wide range of arts and culture available in the city.

The Cultural Arts Plan will include a visionary and achievable strategy spanning five years and beyond. It will also feature a cultural asset inventory and map, grant program recommendations, public art suggestions, and recommendations for public and private arts funding. These ensure a comprehensive approach to Plano's cultural development.
