Temporary closure on Pitman Drive expected near Shadow Trail week of March 16-20

Progress

  • 4,700 of 9,100 feet of pipeline have been installed.
  • Air relief valve work between Glencliff Drive and Carmel Drive is complete. Two-way traffic is removed from the southbound lanes, and northbound lanes are reopened.

Planned Traffic / Lane Impacts

  • A temporary closure on the southbound lane on Pitman Drive is expected to occur near the alley south of Shadow Trail the week of March 16 – March 20.
  • Final timeframes to be confirmed and shared by City of Plano.

Neighborhood Impacts

  • Cross streets and alleys between Westridge Drive and Westlake Drive will have temporary closures from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in sequence as crews move south.
  • Temporary asphalt or steel plates will be used to reopen streets/alleys as work progresses.

Timeline / What’s Next
March-April 2026

  • Contractor anticipates testing the waterline from Pitman Drive and W 15th Street to just south of Westlake Drive and Custer Road the week of Mar. 23 – Mar. 27.
  • Permanent paving will be scheduled to begin at W 15th Street and Pitman Drive after completion of the waterline testing.
  • Crews will continue to install pipeline south towards Plano Parkway outside the northbound lane.

May 2026

  • Anticipated shutdown of the City of Plano Custer Pump Station
  • Atmos Energy initial phase of work is complete in the area. Atmos will return after waterline installation is complete for permanent relocation of the gas line.

Later Phases (Date TBD)

  • Testing/disinfection, permanent paving, and restoration of vegetation.
  • A future phase will require closure of Carmel Drive between Custer Road and Delmonte Circle (timing will be shared once scheduled).
