Dougherty Field Skatepark Expansion Project

  • The concrete and features work is complete and the skatepark now is "soft"ly open for general use. Please stay off the soil slope areas as we are trying our best to get gass seed established, and please keep litter and debris out of the seeded areas.

  • The Portland Skate park expansion is Portland Parks’ top Capital Improvement Project (C.I.P) priority for 2022 and 2023 construction. We are pleased to update skatepark visitors that final plans are under review with the planning department, and construction is tentatively planned for early April, 2023. We've leveraged over $40,000 in-kind donations to increase our square footage more than originally planned. Recent project funding request was for $235,000, to add to the existing $103,470 in private donations, and $70,000 in previous CIP funding allocations. Full project funding (funding donations and city CIP funding) is $408,470. Estimated project value will be nearly $450,000. Thank you to everyone involved!

  • To get the project there, special mention goes out to all of our skaters and families who have gotten pledges and donations from friends, relatives and neighbors as part of the Skate-a-Thon and summer and winter Rail Jam events. A lot of that money was raised $5 and $10 at a time. Huge thanks also goes to skaters Jack Kyle and Max Press who have connected local foundations to this effort that have contributed $85,000 towards this project. And the Long family (of the former Long's Board Shop) played a key role in building interest in this project and hosting some of our early events.

  • All of the private financial support raised for this project is deposited in a City fund for the exclusive purpose of the skatepark expansion project. You can keep tabs on the fund-raising by clicking here and also sign up to raise funds yourself. Moving forward, this project remains a priority for our Department-- and any funds raised moving forward will get us that much closer to our project funding goal.
