Projeto de Piscina da Comunidade Kiwanis
Em 2019, o Departamento de Parques, Recreação e Instalações começou a fazer um trabalho braçal para planejar a substituição da Kiwanis Pool com mais de 60 anos. Por meio da divulgação a grupos de usuários de piscinas e grupos de bairro existentes, foi criado um plano conceitual e orçamento que permitiria maior acesso a Portlanders de todas as habilidades, incluindo um novo foco no acesso ADA, área de entrada zero para pessoas com desafios de mobilidade e crianças pequenas , bem como recursos recreativos aprimorados para adolescentes e jovens adultos. Pistas de natação e áreas de instrução também foram importantes para os grupos comunitários. Desde 2019, uma visão foi preparada para um pool do século 21 que atrai uma ampla variedade de Portlanders de todas as habilidades e origens. Situado no vibrante bairro de Libbytown e próximo a vários empreendimentos habitacionais para trabalhadores, a nova piscina do Dougherty Field promete ser um centro recreativo e um espaço de encontro comunitário para as próximas gerações.

The Kiwanis Pool Replacement Project is moving ahead now that the City has hired a team of designers and engineers to create a final design and see it through to construction.

This meeting was held on July 11th at the Jewish Community Alliance and was attended by 40+ community members. At the meeting, City staff and the design consultants provided an overview of the future aquatic facility concept design and invited input on various aspects of the proposed facility: aquatic support buildings, lap pool, leisure pool, spray pad, and pool deck.

This meeting was held on October 19th at the Jewish Community Alliance and was attended by 5+ community members. At the meeting, City staff and the design consultants provided an overview of the future aquatic facility schematic design and invited questions and discussion of the proposed facility: key program elements, timeline and requirements for final design.
Public Meeting Notice - Kiwanis Aquatic Facility & Dougherty Field (VRAP)
The City of Portland, Maine and their representatives will hold a public meeting on the environmental findings and proposed cleanup of the Kiwanis Aquatic Facility and Dougherty Field in Portland, Maine (the Site). The Site is being enrolled in the Maine Department of Environmental Protection (MEDEP)
Voluntary Response Action Program (VRAP). The public meeting will be held at 5:30 pm on Thursday, March 20, 2025, at the Dougherty Field Playground at 165 Douglass Street, Portland, Maine. The information repository for this project, including environmental assessments and other environmental information, is located at the offices of TRC Environmental Corporation, 63 Marginal Way, 4th Floor, Portland, Maine 04101, attention: Ms. Emily Wassmer, or via email at ewassmer@trccompanies.com and will be available for viewing, by appointment, during normal business hours (Monday through Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm).

The City of Portland, Parks, Recreation & Facilities Department invites you to a public meeting regarding the proposed athletic fields renovation project at Dougherty Field. We'll be discussing the reestablishment of existing field layouts once the Voluntary Response Action Program (VRAP) is complete at 76-78 St. James Street.
This is an opportunity to understand the plans and share your thoughts.
