What's new about the Wasena Bridge Replacement Project?
Wasena Bridge Updates - March 5
- Road, bridge, and greenway closures will start April 22, 2024.
- Demolition is scheduled to start in May 2024 on the south end/Wasena side of the bridge.
- Portable skate elements are being moved from Wasena Skate Park to Morningside Park.
- City of Roanoke Solid Waste division is aware of the upcoming Wasena Bridge closure and will communicate any changes to service prior to April 22.
- Valley Metro has planned new routes for the 61 and 62 buses. For updated route information use the VMGO app, follow them on Facebook, or visit their website for news and information. Valley Metro customer service can be reached by phone at 540-982-2222.
- The Roanoke City Public School (RCPS) Transportation team is working on new bus routes for the upcoming Wasena Bridge closure. They are attempting to create new routes that will not alter the times they currently arrive at stops. If the times were to change more than 10 minutes permanently, the students will receive printed notification from their bus drivers. Meanwhile, parents are encouraged to utilize the Durham Bus Tracker app [https://www.rcps.info/Page/314] and call RCPS Transportation at 540-853-2807 or Durham School Services at 540-970-3000 with any questions or concerns.
