Wasena Bridge Construction Update

We’re excited to share that Phase I demolition of the Wasena Bridge is complete! Here’s what to expect next:

•** Phase II Demolition**: This phase will begin this week and includes the final stretch of the bridge over the Roanoke River and the railroad tracks.
• Debris Hauling: Hauling for this phase will occur from both the Old Southwest side of the bridge, down Main Street/Elm Avenue and the Wasena side of the bridge.
• Blueway Closure Reminder: The Roanoke River Blueway remains closed between the pedestrian bridge connecting Wasena Park and Vic Thomas Park, and Wiley Drive. Please stay out of the river due to ongoing demolition activities.
