75 Percent Design Documents

The Town of Southern Pines has released the 75% design plans for the Knoll Road Multi-Modal Trail project, managed by our contractor Kimley-Horn. The plans are available at:

Key updates based on community feedback include:
• Left-turn lanes are incorporated at Clubhouse and Highland View Drive as well as at Steeplechase Way and Belmont Court. Additionally, a left-turn lane for northbound traffic is included at Paddock Lane.
• The stop sign for Steeplechase Way has been moved forward, significantly improving the sightline toward the north entrance of Knoll Road from Airport Road.
• Chicanes are included at Magnolia Circle, Paddock Lane, and the trail crossing near Steeplechase Way.
• The Town is working with the neighborhood master HOA to evaluate the removal or trimming of vegetation, particularly at the Lakeside Villas entrances and the Pommel Lane intersection.
• The entrances to the neighborhood—including roadways, signs, lighting, and irrigation—at both Midland Road and Airport Road remain largely unchanged.
