Calder Way Project Phase 2A Weekly Update (March 12)

Dear property owners, business managers, and other stakeholders:

The Borough of State College is writing to provide you with the latest updates regarding Phase 2A of the Calder Way Improvement Project.

This week construction began at the intersection of Hetzel Street and East Calder Way. The contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc., installed fencing around the area and began saw cutting and potholing to locate current utilities. Borough maintenance staff also removed four light poles in the construction zone. Next week crews will continue this work and prepare to start sanitary sewer line replacement and upgrades.

Because of the start of construction during Spring Break, the Borough of State College has designed a parking access map that is going to be sent out to Penn State and local media outlets to guide students and residents who are returning to State College. Included in the release also are signs that will be placed along the route for students to get to their destination safely.

The Borough wants to emphasize that primary communications will be sent via email through the Calder Way Communications list. Weekly updates will be provided on Thursday afternoons, and there will be times you will receive more than one update per week as conditions change.
Please remember that projects of this nature are fluid and often change, and they can be impacted by inclement weather. You will be updated in a timely manner about these changes as they are received.
