Calder Way Project Phase 2 Update (January 22)

01-22-26 Update on Calder Way Project Phase 2

Dear property owners, business managers, and other stakeholders:

The Borough of State College is writing to provide you with the latest updates regarding Phase 2 of the Calder Way Project.

This past week due to the cold temperatures and snow, the contractor continued mobilization and no work was done on site.

Tentatively, starting Monday, January 26, fencing will be going up between South Fraser Street and Miller Alley. The contractor is expected to begin saw cutting mid-week, and there will also be a bypass pump system installed. During this process South Fraser Street will be down to one lane with flaggers directing traffic. Timing of the work may be delayed as regional and local weather reports are indicating there is a chance for heavy snowfall on Sunday.

Calder Way from South Fraser Street to Miller Alley will be closed to vehicular traffic.

The Borough wants to emphasize that customers and visitors will have access to businesses during this time.

Businesses that utilize the loading dock at the Fraser Centre won’t have access beginning Monday. Deliveries can be made via Beaver Avenue, South Fraser Street or Miller Alley. Fraser Centre businesses, refuse containers are also going to be moved, please refer to the map attached for the new location of refuse containers and loading zones.

The Borough wants to emphasize that primary communications will be sent via email through the Calder Way Communications list. Weekly updates will be provided on Thursday afternoons, and there will be times you will receive more than one update per week as conditions change.

Please remember that projects of this nature are fluid and often change, and they can be impacted by inclement weather. You will be updated in a timely manner about these changes as they are received.
