Dear property owners, business managers, and other stakeholders:
The Borough of State College is writing to provide you with the latest updates regarding Phase 2A of the Calder Way Improvement Project.
This past week the contractor, Glenn O. Hawbaker, continued excavating for current utilities and in one area on site, restrained and removed a section of waterline. Next week, the contractor will be mobilizing equipment and materials on site.
Work on the sanitary sewer lines will begin on Monday, March 23. With the start of the sanitary sewer line replacement, the fence will be extended an extra 30 feet in the direction of High Street. **Two sidewalks will also be closed and removed so the contractor can complete the work. The two sidewalks are highlighted in purple on the map attached below. **
Businesses receiving deliveries can continue utilizing Hetzel Street off of East Beaver Avenue.
The Borough wants to ensure that pedestrians will have access to businesses and apartments, with the sidewalks being closed. This includes The Legacy, oLiv Hetzel, Playa Bowls, and Calder Commons. The contractor will be placing additional sidewalk detour signs for pedestrians during this time.
The Borough wants to emphasize that primary communications will be sent via email through the Calder Way Communications list. Weekly updates will be provided on Thursday afternoons, and there will be times you will receive more than one update per week as conditions change.
Please remember that projects of this nature are fluid and often change, and they can be impacted by inclement weather. You will be updated in a timely manner about these changes as they are received.
