01-15-26 Update on Calder Way Project Phase 2
Dear property owners, business managers, and other stakeholders:
The Borough of State College is writing to provide you with the first update regarding Phase 2 of the Calder Way Project.
Starting Tuesday, January 20, there will be a temporary closure from S. Fraser Street to Miller Alley from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday with Friday being a rain day.
No work will be done on Monday, January 19, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Saw cutting for exploratory excavation is tentatively scheduled to begin on Wednesday, January 21. However, saw cutting is dependent on the weather. If temperatures are below freezing, saw cutting can’t be done.
Businesses that utilize the loading dock at the Fraser Center will have limited access from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. The Borough of State College and the contractor is ensuring customers, employees, etc. have access to businesses safely during this process.
Calder Way from S. Fraser Street to Miller Alley will be closed to vehicular traffic.
Again, the Borough wants to emphasize that primary communications will be sent via email through the Calder Way Communications list. Weekly updates will be provided on Thursday afternoons, and there will be times you will receive more than one update per week as conditions change.
The Borough staff will work diligently to limit downtime and interruptions to businesses and residents during construction.
I will be the point of contact for your questions or concerns during construction and serve as the liaison between you and the contractor, engineering, and Borough of State College. I can be contacted directly at TKlinefelter@statecollegepa.us or (814) 680-4468.
