Goldsworth Primary School - Proposed 20mph speed limit

Surrey County Council are proposing to lower the speed limit on Bridge Barn Lane and surrounding roads  from 30mph to 20mph.

Please share your views on our proposal. You have until the 25 February 2026.

Your feedback is important to us. Public engagement gives residents and highways users the opportunity to comment on our proposals. This feedback supports the decision making process and, in some cases, may lead to changes in the design. If the scheme progresses, a statutory consultation period will follow.

About the project

Email

We are proposing to reduce the speed limit from 30mph to 20mph on roads to the south and east of Goldsworth primary school.

The following roads are included: Brambledene Close, Bridge Barn Lane, Goldsmith Close, Japonica Close, Mabel Street, Silversmiths Way, Wilfred Street.

This speed reduction scheme arose from concerns about road safety on the roads close to the school.

The aim of the scheme is to reduce vehicles speeds and improve road safety on these roads. Lower speed limits help reduce the likelihood of collisions by allowing drivers more time to react and, in the event of an incident, lessen the severity of any impact.

Speed survey results confirm that existing vehicle speeds are sufficiently low to support the introduction of a 20mph limit using signs alone in line with Surrey County Council’s policy “Setting Local Speed Limits.”

Our public engagement is designed specifically to gain insight and information from residents and highway users on the proposals. The feedback received is considered and shared with the County Councillor’s. Engagement is an important part of any highway proposal as feedback can sometimes help shape and alter our design and plans, or the County Councillor's opinion.
