Area surrounding Manor Road (Area 2)

View the draft proposals presented at stage 2 for area surrounding Manor Road

Walton Local Street Improvements

Area surrounding Manor Road

The key roads included within this area are Manor Road, Thames Street, Annett Road, Dudley Road and Thames Mead.

Manor Road along with the surrounding roads had the highest number of issues reported in the early engagement (stage 1) within the zone. The key issues reported within this area were high traffic speeds, parking on double yellow lines, narrow and uneven damaged footpath, poor visibility for drivers, lack of available parking, rat running and poor disabled access. Issues of anti-social behavior by the pub on Thames Street and dangerous junction with Manor Road were also reported.

Design proposals in this area include (please see the PDF files linked below for plans of all the proposals):

  • Raised tables along with tactile crossings are proposed to reduce vehicular speeds and improve safety at the entry points of Manor Road, Annett Road, Dudley Road and Thames Mead from Terrace Road. Tree plantings and way finding signs to key locations and Thames River Path are proposed at appropriate locations on the entry points to improve public realm in the area.
  • Raised table and pedestrian crossing with build out and tactiles is proposed to improve safety on Manor Road between Bishops Hill and Stonebanks.
  • Mini-roundabout at Manor Road with Stonebanks is proposed to be removed and replaced with a priority junction. Extending and widening of the footways to reduce crossing distances is also proposed at the junction.
  • Extending and widening the footway buildouts to tighten the junction bell mouth is proposed at the junction of Manor Road with the unnamed road leading to Thames River Path (across the Berkeley Gardens). This is to reduce the crossing distances and avoid dangerous parking at the junction. Inset parking spaces on both sides of the road are proposed to reduce the dangerous parking on the junction. Tree planting, tactical crossings and dropped kerbs are proposed at appropriate locations on the junction.
  • 20 mph zone, please see the 20mph zone tile for additional information.

Please provide your feedback on the proposals via our survey.
