October Newsletter - Sulphur Springs Neighborhood Action Plan
October SS NAP Update - Pool News, Community Events, and City Council
Happy fall, Sulphur Springs neighbors!
For this month's newsletter, I wanted to highlight the recent written report to City Council on the status of the Sulphur Springs Pool. The October 9th report says:
Parks and Recreation has worked collaboratively with On Track Life Solutions, Inc. to complete a comprehensive evaluation of the site conditions and identify necessary repairs. The contractor has successfully secured their insurance bond and will begin mobilizing equipment on site prior to October 1. This sets the groundwork for diving into Phase 1, which will include the following:
Restoration of the seawall
Stabilization of the pool
Foundation work to assess the viability of a drainage system to mitigate underlying factors
Backfill with floable grout to fill any subterranean voids
In simple terms, this means that the contractor will begin work on finding and repairing the underground holes and seawall damage that contributed to the closing of the pool.
In other news, the Neighborhood Action Plan team will be at the Fall Festival at Layla's House (1506 E. Eskimo Ave.) this Friday, October 17th from 2 to 4pm! We will be happy to connect with you all and answer any questions you have about the project and our progress.
Lastly, don't forget to tune in or show up for our October 30th update to City Council on the Sulphur Springs Action Plan. More information on how to participate and watch can be found here. We have spent the last month fine tuning our recommendations with all our City Department staff and leaders to make sure we are bringing forward strong actions with staff backing for the neighborhood.
