September 2026 Newsletter
September progress, SWEEP reminders, and ways to take action next week.
Sulphur Springs Neighborhood Action Plan
September has already been a busy month in Sulphur Springs, with residents, businesses, schools, and community partners continuing to connect around local resources, neighborhood priorities, and opportunities to get involved.
Next week, that work comes together during Sulphur Springs Week of Action, September 21–26 — a week of activities designed to bring neighbors together, support the community, and create more opportunities for residents to participate in what’s happening across Sulphur Springs.
Whether you join us in person or participate from home, there are several ways to take part throughout the week.
Pick the opportunity that works for you, invite a neighbor, and help spread the word.
Let’s Clean Up Sulphur Springs!
SWEEP starts next week!
Got large items to get rid of? The City of Tampa is providing FREE pickup of bulky items normally not accepted in regular trash pickup from September 21–25.
The most important reminder: have all accepted items at the curb by 8 PM this Sunday, September 20.
How to Participate
1. Put it at the curb.
Place accepted items in front of your home by Sunday, September 20.
2. Keep it in one pile.
Stay clear of sidewalks, driveways, cars, utilities, trees, and power lines.
3. Keep it under 10 cubic yards.
That’s about the size of 10 household ovens.
Who Is Included?
Homes within these Sulphur Springs boundaries are eligible:
West to East: I-275 → 30th Street
North to South: Busch Boulevard → Hillsborough River
What Can I Put Out?
Accepted items include furniture, mattresses, household appliances, barbecue grills, toilets, carpet, tree limbs and stumps, properly wrapped flat glass, up to four passenger tires, and railroad ties cut to four feet or less.
Please do not put out construction or demolition materials, electronics, paint/oil/fuel or other hazardous waste, gas cylinders, explosives or ammunition, metal drums, boats, grass clippings, leaves, or small yard debris.

Can’t Make It in Person?
You can still take action. Share a photo, video, or story about what you love about Sulphur Springs, what you want protected, improved, or funded, tag Sulphur Springs Stewards, or participate in City Council public comment online.
Every action counts. Choose one way to participate, bring a neighbor, and help strengthen the collective effort across Sulphur Springs.
Neighborhood Spotlight: Sulphur Springs Neighborhood Association
As we head into Week of Action, this month’s Neighborhood Spotlight is the Sulphur Springs Neighborhood Association.
The Association is welcoming neighbors back on Thursday, September 24 at 6:30 PM at Springhill Community Center.
Whether you have been involved for years or have never attended before, this is a chance to meet your neighbors, hear community updates, and find out how to stay involved.
The Neighborhood Association is one of the places residents can continue connecting around neighborhood concerns, ideas, and priorities beyond a single event or campaign.
