May Newsletter - Sulphur Springs Neighborhood Action Plan
May SS-NAP Project Update
We are excited to share this May newsletter for the Sulphur Springs Neighborhood Action Plan!
In between our official community engagement activites, we want to make sure we are keeping you up to date on the hard work City staff and our project team is putting into the Sulphur Springs neighborhood.
Thank you so much to everyone that participated in our Phase I community engagement - our team heard from you all at workshops, community events, one-on-one meetings, neighborhood activity spots, in school pick-up lines, through our online survey (over 160 responses!), and even door-to-door. From this engagement, we know Sulphur Springs sees a vision for the future of the community that will:
- Improve Aesthetics, Safety, and Perception,
- Prioritize Neighborhood Action and Resources,
- Integrate the River, Riverfront Parks, and Springs,
- Facilitate Vacant Sites Redevelopment
- Stabilize Residential Neighborhoods
- Improve Nebraska Avenue,
- Improve Infrastructure and Drainage, and
- Celebrate History, Culture, and Community Assets.
Our City Planning team is reviewing the Phase I report of the Sulphur Springs Neighborhood Action Plan, which we will then share with our Technical Working Group of internal City department staff working on projects throughout the Sulphur Springs neighborhood (see what great work is going on here). This review and revision process will ensure that the Phase I report provides a complete, accurate, and clear picture of the activities and recommendations coming out of Phase I, which we will then share with you in July, along with the launch of our Phase II engagement activities.
Over the next month, our team will be reviewing and finalizing the Phase I plan, meeting with our technical working group, meeting with our City Communications team to plan for Phase II engagement, and staying in touch with City Council on their priorities in Sulphur Springs as they schedule multiple discussions on issues affecting the Neighborhood.
