‘You Said, We Did’ – Movement strategy Phase 2: Lupus Street Public Consultation
Introduction
The Lupus Street Cycle Movement Strategy proposals are to make the temporary cycles lanes installed by the council in 2020, as an active travel response to the covid pandemic, permanent. The Lupus street cycle lane runs along Lupus Street from the intersection with Grosvenor Road to the intersection with Claverton Street. This scheme encourages active travel by developing safer and permanent cycle lanes.
A informal public consultation ran for 3 weeks from 7th November to 28th November 2023. The consultation activities and materials were hosted on the councils Consultation Hub including FAQ’s and a link to an online survey, a (50m from route) letter drop to 1,713 addresses, emails to statutory consultees, ward members and resident groups. Feedback was collected via the online survey which went live on 7th November for the duration of the consultation period.
Consultation Results
Commonplace contained a survey that sought people’s views on the proposals, including a question whether they support all elements, support some elements, do not support, with an option to comment. All responses required a post code to be entered. Below is a summary of the responses:
Lupus Street Cycle Lane Proposal:
No. of Responses | Support all elements | Support some elements | Do not support | No view submitted
% | Number | % | Number | % | Number | % | Number
All Responses | 111 | 17% | 19 | 28% | 31 | 41% | 46 | 14% | 15 |
Extracting the underlining themes of the responses via the open text comments provided a stronger understanding of concerns and suggestions raised from the public consultation. This allows the Council to address the concerns and progress the scheme in an informed and targeted way.
