Construction Update: Lake Howard Dr SW Road Closure

As part of the South Lake Howard Nature Park Expansion project, Lake Howard Dr SW will temporarily close between Ave F and 15th Street SW from March 14–20, 2026. The closure is necessary to install a new 24-inch stormwater pipe across the roadway near the park entrance.

The work has been scheduled during Spring Break week to help minimize traffic impacts. All businesses and residents in the area will maintain continuous local access throughout construction.

These stormwater infrastructure improvements are a key component of the overall Nature Park Expansion. Once complete, the system will treat stormwater runoff before it enters Lake Howard, helping improve and protect lake water quality. The project will also expand recreational amenities at the park, including additional trails, boardwalk areas, expanded disc golf, and enhanced nature study spaces.
