KDOT CCLIP Project
The Kansas Department of Transportation City Connection Link Improvement Program (CCLIP) is a federal and state-funded program that provides funds to cities to address deficiencies or improve a City Connecting Link on the State Highway System. Abilene has been awarded $300,000 for fiscal year 2023, $300,000 for fiscal year 2024, and $400,000 for fiscal year 2025.
Street Sales Tax 2024-2034
We understand the importance of transparency in showing what this tax does for our community, and this page will do just that! This page will provide information about upcoming street improvement projects, the cost, the funding sources, and of course before and after pictures. Updates will be made directly to this site.
Sports Complex
Wichita State University is conducting a Sports Complex Feasibility Study and Economic Impact Study for the proposed Sports Complex. The City of Abilene has created a Sports Complex Task Force, along with the Recreation Commission, to oversee and present all phases of this project to be present to the City Commission for final approval. The City is hopeful that upgrades to our sports facilities will be a priority for the betterment of our community!

Abilene Park System Master Plan 2024-2045
A city's park system master plan is a comprehensive and strategic document that outlines the long-term vision, goals, and guidelines for the development, management, and maintenance of its parks and recreational facilities.
Waterline Replacement
Waterline Project along NE 14th Street, extending to N. Oak Street, N. Kuney Street, and N. Olive Street. This project, part of the City's planned initiatives, is scheduled to occur from early January through the end of March 2024.

Comprehensive Plan
Comprehensive Plan Updates. The Comprehensive Development Plan is a document that addresses land use, land development, expansion and preservation of city streets, structures and services, economic development and tourism, housing, historic preservation, transportation, and recreation. The policies embodied in the plan are developed through the use of citizen input techniques, community meetings, Planning Commission review and City Commission adoption. In order for a Comprehensive Plan to be relevant, it needs to remain current! The Comprehensive Plan is undergoing a full scale update by the City to make necessary adjustments to the 2006 adopted plan.
Lead Service Line Inventory (LSLI)
The Lead Service Line Inventory project is now complete. However, our commitment to reducing lead in drinking water continues. Ongoing annual efforts, including required notifications and updates, will be maintained. Click here for more information about these efforts. 14th Street Improvements
Improvements coming to 14th Street from Buckeye to Vine Street. It includes constructing dedicated center turn lane with curb and gutter that transitions to 4 lanes and then joins the 5-lane configuration at the west Buckeye approach. The project also includes new sidewalk along the north side of 14th street and extending the existing sidewalk on the south side, some of which will be shared paths for pedestrians and bicyclists. Also included are additional street and walk lighting, and several hundred feet of improved storm drainage structures.
