Our City. Our Future. | July 2026

This month, the City of St. George reached a historic milestone by securing millions in federal funding for a transformational transportation project, continued shaping the City's future through the Comprehensive Plan 2050 process, and celebrated community through events, resident success stories, and recognition of those who serve. Here's a look at what happened across St. George this month.

Resident Success Story

One Service Request. One Big Difference.

For more than two decades, resident Mary Gentry dealt with repeated flooding caused by a neglected drainage servitude behind her neighborhood. After submitting a service request, City staff assessed the issue during heavy rainfall, cleared and dredged the drainage servitude, and restored the drainage pathway.
When another major rain event arrived, the results spoke for themselves. For the first time in years, Mary's property remained dry.

Stories like Mary's are why responsive local government matters. Every service request is an opportunity to solve problems and improve quality of life for residents.

"I don't have the words to express my relief or my gratitude to the City of St. George."

SAFE Siegen Receives $19.2 Million Federal BUILD Award

The City of St. George reached a historic milestone this month by securing a $19.2 million federal BUILD Grant for the SAFE Siegen (Safety, Access & Flow Enhancements) project. The project will improve approximately 1.35 miles of Siegen Lane between Interstate 10 and Airline Highway with safety upgrades, improved traffic flow, pedestrian infrastructure, upgraded signals, enhanced lighting, and other corridor improvements.

This award reflects months of planning, partnership, and advocacy and demonstrates St. George's ability to compete for major federal infrastructure funding. While construction will not begin immediately, the project now advances into engineering, environmental review, public involvement, and final design before construction begins.

Shaping St. George's Future Together

Residents, business owners, and community stakeholders gathered this month for another Stakeholder Dialogue as part of the St. George Comprehensive Plan 2050.

The meeting gave attendees an opportunity to share ideas, discuss priorities, and help guide future decisions related to land use, transportation, housing, parks, infrastructure, and economic development. Community participation remains an essential part of creating a long-term vision that reflects the values and goals of St. George residents.

Thank you to everyone who joined the conversation and helped shape our city's future.

Introducing St. George Tails

Meet Patches, the first featured dog in St. George Tails, our new monthly series highlighting adoptable dogs and opportunities to support our community.

Patches recently visited City Hall and met Mayor Dustin Yates while helping raise awareness of the many ways residents can make a difference. Community members can volunteer their time, foster an animal, assist with shelter activities, or help connect adoptable pets with permanent homes.

This playful and affectionate 27-pound Terrier mix is spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, and ready for her forever family. She gets along well with other dogs and never turns down a pup cup!
