Denton Parks and Recreation Projects

Ligustrum sinense, also referred to as Chinese privet, is an evergreen ornamental shrub or small tree in the Oleaceae (olive) family that grows 6 to 13 feet tall.

The Parks and Recreation Department is soliciting and gathering feedback on the communities needs, wants, and desires for a future center.

The scope of the project improvements will consist of public engagement, design, and construction.

In December 2020, Council approved Pacheco Koch Consulting Engineers, Inc to serve as the consultants and will be developing a master plan and redesign for Bowling Green Park.

Parks and Recreation is partnering with Denton Off-road Trails Association and Big Pig Racing Mission to construct a mountain bike trail in South Lakes Park.

In 2018, the City of Denton acquired a 6.5-acre parcel at 6414 Edwards Rd., located at the southwest corner of Swisher Road and Edwards Road, earmarked for a future park.

City Council adopted the Parks, Recreation, and Trails System Master Plan on March 1, 2022.

City of Denton applications to name specific facilities or properties owned by the City.

A new mural to be painted on the exterior of the MLK Rec Center.
