Welcome to the Town of Nantucket's Engage Platform
The Town of Nantucket Engage platform is the new hub of the Town for sharing, discussing, and collaborating in creating sustainable solutions for significant problems, challenges, and opportunities in our community. Thank you for participating, joining us, and making your voice heard.
Department of Public Works
Projects led by the Department of Public Works to plan, maintain, and improve Nantucket’s public infrastructure, facilities, and essential services in support of the community’s day-to-day needs and long-term priorities.
Housing Production Plan
The purpose of a Housing Production Plan (HPP) is to identify and address the affordable housing needs of low- or moderate-income people.
Master Plan Update
The Nantucket Planning Board is updating the 2009 Master Plan, as required under Massachusetts law (G.L. c. 41, §81D). The process will include multiple public engagement opportunities organized into four major phases.
PFAS
Ongoing Town of Nantucket projects and initiatives related to PFAS assessment, management, and mitigation, including monitoring, infrastructure-related efforts, regulatory actions, and public health considerations.
Planning & Land Use Services (PLUS)
The department of Planning and Land Use Services (PLUS) was established in late FY12 by consolidating the former Code Enforcement Department with the offices of Planning and Zoning and placed under the leadership of the Director of Planning. PLUS consists of the Building, Planning and Zoning departments and the Historic District Commission. This reorganization has resulted in greater staffing and monetary efficiencies, improved customer service, expanded hours of operation, and the implementation of “one-stop shopping” for permit-related matters.
Communications & Community Outreach
The Communications Office connects residents with timely information, enhances public engagement, and promotes transparent communication between residents of the island and our local government.
Building for the Future: The Case for a New DPW Facility
The DPW Facility Improvement Project aims to modernize and expand Nantucket's Department of Public Works facility to enhance operational efficiency and better serve the community's needs.
Strategic Plan
The Nantucket Select Board Strategic Plan focuses on creating positive impacts on the lives of everyone who visits, works, and lives on our Island.
Housing Department
The Town of Nantucket is actively working towards providing housing options that reflect the Island's economic diversity. Efforts are focused on making year-round housing more accessible for those working on the Island, while affordable housing initiatives aim to create stable living environments. The Town is also addressing the housing needs of the seasonal workforce, ensuring safe, secure accommodations.
Our Island Home
The Town of Nantucket is proposing a new facility for Our Island Home, designed to meet the evolving needs of the community by providing modern, compassionate care for its residents.
Sewer/Wastewater Projects
The mission of the Sewer Department is to protect public health and the environment for our communities by providing high-quality wastewater treatment services in an effective, efficient and responsive manner.
Climate and Resiliency
The Natural Resources Department Climate and Resiliency Division is primarily focused on how we as a community are adapting our current practices to a changing natural environment. This is done by properly identifying threats such as climate change and sea level rise, and by providing data-driven management options for public discussion and adoption.
Surfside '25
There are several complex and important roadway reconstruction, drainage, mixed-use path, and water main projects in various design stages in the Surfside area of the island west of Nantucket Memorial Airport.
Health & Human Services
The Health & Human Services Department is responsible for implementing initiatives to enhance the mental and physical health of our community.
Police Department
The Nantucket Police Department serves all people within our jurisdiction with respect, fairness, and compassion.
Transportation
Transportation projects and developments intended to improve the quality of life of our residents.

A short section of the proposed Tom Nevers Road path includes a boardwalk over a low-lying conservation area.
Is this experience worth considering if it increases construction and maintenance costs?

If impacts to natural resources and abutting properties can be mitigated, do you support construction of the complete path between Polpis Road to the Gatehouse?
